Meet Amanda

Daughter of a Son of a Sailor

I knew when I was 10 I wanted to join the Navy. My grandfather, a Pearl Harbor survivor and Navy veteran, was sick and during my last visit to see him I remember standing in the hallway looking  at all his pictures and memorabilia. It struck a chord that this was what I wanted to do when I was older. He passed away a few years later. When I was 17 and only a month after my graduation from high school I left for Recruit Training Command Great Lakes.

I served for 11 years starting as a Yeoman for 7 years and ending as a Cryptologist for my last 5 years. I served on 2 Guided Missile Destroyers, stationed overseas in Bahrain and at Naval Support Center Thurmont, known to most as "Camp David" the Presidential Retreat. While at Camp David I recruited, traveling all over the country for the best Sailors to serve. It was my first experience in human resources and I loved it.

I left the service in 2015, took some time off to go to college, landed what I thought was my dream job....and hated it. I quit after a few months and soon after was hired as a supervisor in an administrative department for a library.

My personal resume has it all: military service, gaps in employment, a short time at a company. And as a hiring manager I've reviewed hundred of resumes. I know many people don't like paperwork. They can't stand writing about themselves. They hate Word and formatting. I love all those things. Using my skills and passion I saw a way to help those struggling with their resumes.

If you've been thinking about changing careers, are transitioning from the military or are actively job searching, contact me and let's see how we can polish your resume and cover letter to let your experience and skills shine through.

Respectfully,

Amanda
